Paris? Texas! Boiling sun, a wonderful landscape, entrancing music. Travis is on the search for his roots. He has been reported missing for 4 years, when his brother Walt eventually finds him in the middle of nowhere, totally worn out, both, physically and spiritually. He remains silent – fully disconnected from his own mundane existence. Walt and his wife are taking care of Travis’ son, whose mother‘s whereabouts are also unknown. After Travis is brought back to the living, his brother tries hard to help him to remember his past and the life he has left behind. After father and son have got closer, they go on a search for the son’s mother to put their family back together again. Is it possible to bring back what was lost? Wim Wenders’ portrayal of private struggles and deep human emotions is perfectly interpreted, accompanied by picturesque landscapes and deeply expressive music. The whole movie is an inner journey, where story, acting, imagery and sound merge into a melange of experiences, allowing each viewer to project his/her very own meaning into it.
