Der junge Schriftsteller Louis kehrt nach zwölf Jahren in seine Heimatstadt zurück. Er ist krank und fürchtet, nicht mehr lange zu leben.

Nun will er seine Familie davon in Kenntnis setzen. Doch während des guten Jahrzehnts, in dem er abwesend war, hat er sich nicht nur geografisch von seiner Mutter und seinen Geschwistern entfernt.

Basierend auf dem Theaterstück von Jean-Luc Lagarce, und mit Marion Cotillard, Vincent Cassel, Léa Seydoux, Nathalie Baye und Gaspard Ulliel als illustres Schauspielensemble, hat der junge, kanadische Kultregisseur Xavier Dolan ein tief bewegendes und explosives Familiendrama geschaffen.
